towel-day-pic1.jpgtowelday-pic-2.jpgTowel Day is celebrated every May 25 as a tribute by fans of the late author Douglas Adams. On this day, fans carry a towel with them to demonstrate their love for the books and the author.

The commemoration was first held in 2001, two weeks after Adams’ death on May 11, 2001. The towel is a reference to Adams’s popular science fiction comedy series The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Part of this year’s Towel Day celebration will be taking place at the Bygningen Club, Vejle, Denmark. This local celebration of Life, the Universe and Everything will,  in tune with Douglas Adams (an able lefthand guitarist!), be raising money for his favourite NGO’s - The Gorilla Organization and Save the Rhinos.

Many thanks to Thomas F. Kortholm and the town of Vejle’s culture department for organising the event.
