blueberry-crumble_01484.jpgSnow, ice, and ear-freezin’ cold - not the best conditions for fulfilling your New Year pledge of getting into shape for the Great Gorilla Run.

Last week’s Great Gorilla Eats was a healthy, low-fat, blueberry and banana smoothie.

Tasty and great in it’s own way, but not really a great motivation for braving the most extreme running conditions some of you will have faced in your entire lives.

So it’s back to the scrummy, calorie-laden banana desserts as a well-earned reward once you’ve done your evening and weekend run.

INGREDIENTS (makes loads!)
3 ripe bananas, peeled
300g of fresh or frozen blueberries
100g brown sugar
100g plain flour
100g oats oats
100g cold butter
half teaspoon of salt

INSTRUCTIONS
1) Slice bananas whichever way you like and lay in buttered baking dish
2) Add blueberries
3) Combine flour, sugar, oats and salt
4) Rub in butter
5) Spread crumble mix over bananas
6) Bake at (180-200°C) for 25-30 minutes.

Serve with warm custard if you need warming up after your run or ice cream if you’re a hot-enough Great Gorilla.
