Mankini Gorilla is a recent addition to the legions of Great Gorilla characters.
Immortalised by Sacha Boren Cohen in his 2006 mockumentary movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, the famous green ‘man bikini’ graced the Great Gorilla Run in 2007 and 2008.
Although the revealing green outfit was absent from the 2009 run, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before a Great Gorilla runner adopts the mankini once more.
After all, the mankini really is the perfect gorilla suit embellishment. After a few miles pounding the streets of the Great Gorilla Run course, it gets pretty hot inside the suit.
And whilst it’s de rigueur at the Great Gorilla Run to customize your suit and make yourself stand out from the crowd, you really want to limit the number of layers.
The mankini is the minimalist approach to enhancing your gorilla suit - we look forward to possible reappearance at the Great Gorilla Run 2010, with or without a banana strategically positioned at the front.
