Ten gorilla suited fundraisers accomplished what King Kong could not. A safe descent from a very tall building, and raised hundreds of pounds for the Gorilla Organization’s conservation and community-development projects.
Abseiling in gorilla suits down a 30 metre tall building is no easy fear, but as always the gorillas came through raising the profile of gorilla conservation and supporting the Gorilla Organization.
This glorious sun-drenched event took place at Kings College Hospital in Dulwich. This being the first abseil experience for most of our gorilla team, the morning consisted of much back-patting and collective encouragement to reduce any pre-abseil nerves, resulting in a bonded and supportive abseiling team, many of whom had been strangers just hours before.
Needless to say, this newly formed gorilla family hunted down the local pub as soon as their furry feet hit the ground. A few hours were whiled away over drinks and much boasting over their daring fear, while mutually grooming gorilla fur off of each other’s faces and clothes (an occupational hazard).
Our next big event is the Great Gorilla Run, taking place on September 26th. Sign up now and you too could be picking gorilla fur off of newly formed friends!
